The Biography of Dr. Liu

Dr. Liu Yonglun was born in 1966 in Mogaung, Myanmar, known as the city of jade and gems. His ancestral roots trace back to Yingjiang County, Yunnan Province, China.

Dr. Liu Yonglun’s grandfather, Mr. Liu Changyu, served as the Director of the Lianshan Administration Bureau of Yunnan Province during the Anti-Japanese War period of the Republic of China. Due to his virtuous conduct and love for the people, he actively resisted the Japanese invasion and earned considerable praise. On December 6, 1949, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, Liu Changyu and all officials of the Administration Bureau staged an uprising, establishing the “Lianshan County People’s Liberation Committee.” He served as the committee’s director and raised the first Five-Star Red Flag in the Dehong region. The Lianshan Administration Bureau uprising preceded the Yunnan Uprising led by Lu Han on December 9 by three days, shaking the Yunnan-Burma border area. Politically aligned with the advance of the People’s Liberation Army to Tengchong and Longling, it played a coordinating role and laid the foundation for the peaceful liberation of Dehong.

Dr Liu Yonglun’s father, Mr Liu Anyin, came to Mogaung Myanmar in the 1950s and engaged in the jade trade. He was known for his honesty, sincere demeanour, integrity in dealings, and dedication to serving his fellow countrymen. Mr. Liu Anyin was an outstanding overseas Chinese leader in Mogaung.

In 1993, Dr. Liu Yonglun graduated from the University of Medicine Mandalay and subsequently worked in the medical field. In 2000, he followed in his father’s footsteps and founded the Sein Sein Gems and Jewellery Co., Ltd., where he serves as the chairman. The company is involved in mining operations and import-export trade. Its headquarters are located at No 3A, Aung Mingalar Street, 4 Quarter, Mayangone Township, Yangon.

Sein Sein Gems and Jewellery Co., Ltd., has obtained mining rights for 8 jade and gemstone mines through participating in tenders organized by the Myanmar Ministry of Mines.

From 2000 to 2018, over a span of 18 years Sein Sein Gems and Jewellery Co., Ltd., Ltd. has been involved in jade mining. The jade extracted from these mines has been processed and sold through partnerships with companies in Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Additionally, after processing, the finished products are sold at government auctions held annually.

In 2012, Sein Sein Gems and Jewellery Co., Ltd. obtained mining rights for gemstones in the Mogok mining area and actively conducted gemstone mining operations until 2018.

Since 2018, in order to protect mining resources, the government has not approved new mining rights. Sein Sein Gems and Jewellery Co., Ltd. has strictly adhered to government laws and regulations, and as a result, suspended all mining operations.

Sein Sein Gems and Jewellery Co., Ltd., adheres to integrity and legal operation, and after more than 20 years of effort, has established five subsidiary companies, becoming a well-known company in Myanmar’s jeweler and jade industry.

After the substantial development of the enterprise, Dr. Liu actively participates in various social welfare activities, striving to give back to society. Leveraging his medical education background, he founded the “Infinite Myanma Metta Charity Medical Foundation” and serves as its chairman. Dr Liu has attracted a large number of medical professionals from various specialities such as internal medicine, surgery, otorhinolaryngology, pediatrics, dermatology, radiology, gynaecology, orthopedics, and dentistry. The foundation serves disadvantaged rural populations, conducting free clinics for over ten years in remote mountainous areas.

Since its establishment, the ” Infinite Myanma Metta Charity Medical Foundation” has provided free medical consultations and treatments to over 50,000 rural residents, restored sight to more than 1,800 cataract patients, rescued many children with cleft lips and other deformities, and treated numerous difficult cases, making the foundation a well-known social welfare organization in Myanmar.

Dr. Liu cares deeply about the development of Chinese education and actively participates in various activities of Chinese community organizations. He also serves as the president on duty of the Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce (Upper Myanmar). Leading the members, he strives to overcome difficulties and actively explore new business areas, promoting the development of various tasks of the chamber and striving to make the Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce (Upper Myanmar) one of the most influential chambers in Myanmar.

Although Dr. Liu was born and raised in Myanmar, he has not forgotten his ancestral homeland, China. He has been contributing actively to the development of Myanmar’s economy and the promotion of Myanmar-China friendship through his practical actions.
